3 Ways to Decongest your Lymphatic System
Did you know that calming ourselves can often be scientifically compared to balancing our lymphatic system? This expansive system is found throughout our bodies, removing waste from every cell whilst helping to regulate our immune system. Lymph is the fluid that flows throughout the lymphatic system; and must flow freely to ensure waste doesn't build up in the tissues, manifesting itself into fatigue, brain fog, stress digestive issues & more.
Here's three simple habits that can help decongest your lymphatic system to keep you healthy & happy:
1. Heal your Gut
Nourish your body with foods rich in antioxidents. ππ₯ Follow a nutrient dense, anti-inflammatory diet thatβs suited to your own needs. Leafy green veggies, beets & cherries, vitamins A & D, Omega-3 fatty acids and probiotics can help heal the intestinal lining, reduce inflammation and provide a diverse range of good bacterias. A healthy gut will thank you for it and become more resilient to the harmful impacts of stress.
2. Stretch!
Moving your muscles is SO important. To help propel and transport lymph fluid through filtration points (lymph nodes), these nodes contain collections of white blood cells that identify and destroy harmful pathogens or toxins. πͺ Yoga can decongest your lymphatic system through rhythmic tensing and relaxing of the muscles during movement and actually compresses the tissues to propel fluid through the lymphatic channels. Carve out time in your day just for you, invest in an eco-friendly yoga mat to dedicate yourself to some nourishing mindful movement.
3. Deep breaths
Slow, deep breaths not only relieve tension and anxiety but moves the diaphragm and abdominal muscles to push lymph through the vessels.π£π¨ Start off by meditating for 5 minutes each day, counting your breaths to ten, and back down. Sit on a pillow or yoga prop to give yourself more comfort, and work on increasing the time you meditate each week.
Call it yoga, call it decongesting your lymphatic system. Either way; the results are well worth it.
