Why You Should Practice Yoga Outside
Originally established in ancient India thousands of years ago, Yoga is still considered so powerful in our modern world. The world has advanced a lot from ancient times but practices like yoga and acupuncture are just too effective to let go of. Yoga is not just about the different poses, it is a lot more than that and it’s transforming with passing time.
Did you know studies have shown that yoga performed outdoors can actually be more effective than yoga performed inside at home or at gyms? Our body releases even more serotonin and positive energy when you’re surrounded by nature and unsurprisingly, can boost your entire yoga experience. When you’re surrounded by the great oudoors, it not only helps you replenish depleted energy, but it’s entirely immersive and sensory, which has miles of health benefits for your brain, heart and your body as a whole. Think about it. Fresh air in your lungs, grounding through your feet, and connecting with nature as you connect within yourself. Bliss!
To optimise your outside experience, the materials you use in your practice should also be eco-friendly. No PVC for me thank you! Look for yoga mats that are soft & thick if you’re practicing on rough or concrete terrain so that yout joints and knees are supported. And of course, produced with eco-friendly and biodegradable material. :)
So this summer get outside, take a deep breath, and dive in.
